I am going to mark this thread SOLVED, but if you could answer my question above about USB connecting with power on/off, I would appreciate it. Going to Device manager \ Software devices \ HP LaserJet P1006 \ Update driver \ Search this PC \ Choose driver from available on PC \ Install from disk \ Browse and then pointing it to an. Upon checking a box, I was happy already that it would work, because this step never happened these days. The installation was the same this time yet just with one step extra asking me to add the printer. Magically, my second printer which was lost in the control panel/printer appears along with this problematic laserjet I was trying so many times to install without success. Then, I went to the services and made everything automatic and "start" from disabled and stopped. So why leaving the power on while disconnecting USB cable wouldn't I risk damaging the printer now? I understand the disconnecting USB part, but it's contradictory with the installation wizard's important note NOT to turn the power on while connecting the USB cable, because it might damage the printer.

Indeed, no printer was listed there still.
